Summit County Children Services (SCCS) has long been known as a provider of high-quality services for children and families -- and that reputation for quality recently received official recognition with the news that the Council on Accreditation (COA) has reaccredited the agency through July, 2009.

The 28th Annual Jim Klett Memorial Races – scheduled for Saturday, June 14 at the Howe Meadow Site of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park on Riverview Road – offer something for all runners, young and old. Four races will be held, including a ¾-Mile Kids Fun Run and a 10K race for grown-ups.

Pastor Jeffrey A. Dennis, Senior Pastor of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Akron, has been named to the Citizen’s Advisory Committee of Summit County Children Services.

Across our nation today, more than a half million children are in foster care, and Summit County Children Services recently held its 58^th Annual Foster Parent Recognition Dinner to honor the hundreds of dedicated local foster parents who willingly open their homes and their hearts to area children in need of some stability in their lives.

The Women’s Auxiliary Board of Summit County Children Services is currently celebrating its 60^th Anniversary of helping children and families – and Children Services’ trustees recently honored the group by renaming the multi-purpose rooms at the agency’s South Arlington Street headquarters as the “Women’s Auxiliary Board Community Rooms.”

Important Summit County Children Services’ projects such as the Holiday Toy Room, and Child and Family Awareness Month would be impossible to carry out without the help of numerous volunteers and donors – and the agency recently recognized a variety of individuals, groups and organizations for their generosity toward the children and families of Summit County.

Summit County Children Services popular 'Heart Gallery' photography exhibit, which highlights agency children waiting to be adopted, is once again on the move to a new location -- the Maple Valley Branch Library, 1187 Copley Rd., Akron. The exhibit will be at the library from July 11 through the end of August.
